Advanced Practice - Section Chair - Walk In Care - Fargo, ND

Job Description

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

The Section Chair, in collaboration with their Administrative Dyad Partner(s), ensures that the members of the Section perform to the highest standards of medicine and integrated care as outlined by Essentia Health (EH). The Section Chair is responsible for Section performance on patient quality and safety indicators, patient satisfaction, access, productivity, provider engagement, cost of care, operationalizing EH standards of care, and other key initiatives. The Section Chair inspires others to fulfill the mission, vision, and aspirational aims of Essentia Health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and monitor the Section’s performance in meeting clinical quality and safety standards; meet or exceed Clinical Quality Dashboard Targets.

  • Drive clinical and service excellence. Participate in the investigation and resolution of patient quality, safety, and service-reported events.

  • Require all Section members to exercise best efforts to meet or exceed access, productivity, and financial targets. Identify opportunities to decrease overall cost of care.

  • Promote safe, cost-conscious, and effective care by aligning evidence-based practices with sustainable use of resources.

  • Encourage informed, shared decision making with patients and families, supporting autonomy, transparency, and improved outcomes.

  • Promote a collaborative environment across the Section and with other departments, fostering teamwork and coordinated patient care.

  • Initiate continuous practice improvement, including documentation and coding.

  • Develop, support, and actively participate in the Physician/Provider long-range recruitment plan.

  • Collaborate with Physician and Professional Services regarding physician performance concerns per policy.

  • Develop agendas and chair regularly scheduled Section meetings in collaboration with the Administrative Dyad Partner.

  • Actively participate in Division meetings.

  • Facilitate Section participation in EH committees and work groups. Participate in peer review activities as needed or appropriate to the Section Chair role.

  • Act as liaison for bi-directional communication between the Section and Essentia Health.

  • Encourage clinical excellence of the Section via educational activity, development of new services, and opportunities for teaching/research.

  • Provide annual review and ongoing feedback with individual Section members, including identification of career development interests and opportunities.

  • Identify and develop emerging Physician/Provider leaders.

Qualifications

  • An Essentia Health–employed Physician/APRN/PA in good standing.

  • An active member of the medical staff.

  • Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in formal or informal leadership roles.

  • Recognized by peers as an excellent Physician/APRN/PA.

Authority

  • The Section Chair has the authority to fulfill the above responsibilities at Essentia Health. Reports to Division Chair.
