Seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to serve Essentia Health in an inpatient setting at our Miller Dwan Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota. This BHT works 32 hours weekly with children & adolescents on day and evening shifts. Every other weekend and a holiday rotation are required. Shifts are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm and 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm. The six-week rotation will consist of a balance between day and evening shifts. Employees are able to request specific days and times off, and we work hard to provide a healthy work/life balance.Education Qualifications:
- Degree in social services related field OR Certified Peer Support Specialist in Minnesota or Wisconsin OR 1 year experience in working with persons with mental health symptoms or related applicable experience.

What You'll Do:
This position assists with assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of selected technical aspects of patient care under direct supervision of the Charge RN, Assistant Head Nurse, Nurse Manager and/or the Director, to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory or accrediting agencies as well as meeting the goals and mission of the department. Provides direct and indirect care for adolescent to geriatric patients to aid meeting the patients’ needs as directed. Provides patients with activity opportunities appropriate to their ages and abilities and related to their plan for care, either individually and/or in group settings. Job duties include:
Assisting with the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care under the direct supervision of nursing leadership
Supporting both direct and indirect care for patients ranging from adolescents to geriatrics
Ensuring patient care practices meet Joint Commission standards and other regulatory guidelines
Collaborating with the care team to help meet departmental goals and the organization’s mission
Facilitating age-appropriate individual and group activities aligned with each patient’s care plan
Promoting a supportive and safe environment that addresses each patient’s physical, emotional, and social needs

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
- AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 1 month of hire.
- Completion of psychology course(s) preferred.
