Performs a wide range of duties relating to the care of the children 0 – 7 years of age and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment that promotes each child’s individual development through daily routines and age appropriate activities in cooperation with fellow team members and parents to promote the goals and philosophy of the Child Care Center and Essentia Health.Education Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Child Care Associate II
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- General care giving knowledge of children 0-7 years of age
Above requirements plus fulfill one of the following:
- A. Minnesota technical institute certificate as a child development assistant. Plus 520 hours experience as an aide or student intern.
- B. Two years full time post-secondary education from a college or university. Plus 1,040 hours as an aide or student intern, Plus 9 quarter credits from post secondary institution in Child Development or related courses.
- C. Child Development Associate credential from the Council on Early Childhood Professional Recognition.
- D. Certificate or credential from a two-year program in child development at a Minnesota community college or technical college.
- E. Baccalaureate degree in any field from an accredited college or university, including 9 quarter credits in Early Childhood or related courses. 2. Caregiving knowledge of children 0 – 7 years of age.

- Have prior experience as a nanny, babysitter, daycare aide, or child care provider, especially with children ages 0–7.
- Enjoy creating a safe, nurturing, and structured environment that supports children’s social, emotional, and developmental growth.
- Have education or credentials in child development or early childhood education (CDA, certificate, related coursework, or degree).
- Work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with parents and coworkers to support each child’s individual needs.
- Are patient, dependable, and energetic, with the ability to manage daily routines, age-appropriate activities, and multiple children at once.
