The Maintenance Manager provides leadership and direction for maintenance operations within acute care facilities to ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Additionally, they're responsible for staff management, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and ensuring facility systems operate at peak performance.Education Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in in Business, management, facilities management, Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or technical discipline. Candidate may possess an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Maintenance Manager responsibilities include infrastructure and utility management, human resource management, space allocation, regulatory compliance, and financial oversight. Activities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the Essentia Health mission and will contribute toward the overall organizational priorities and objectives.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in facilities management, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep commitment to maintaining high standards of care in a healthcare setting. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with onsite administrator, clinical leadership, patients, co-workers, and others.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage daily operations of maintenance staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive maintenance plans, schedules, and preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance, safety, and regulatory compliance, including OSHA, Joint Commission, and local building codes.
Oversee maintenance and repair of all equipment, systems, and facilities, including regular inspections and prompt response to emergencies.
Coordinate facility projects and vendor activities, providing project review and support such as Infection Control Risk Assessments and Life Safety measures.
Develop and manage maintenance budgets, including forecasting, expense tracking, and cost control.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, asset management, work orders, inspections, and repairs.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of facility operations while minimizing disruption to patient care.
Provide regular reports on maintenance performance to senior leadership.
Actively participate in applicable healthcare engineering associations to stay current on best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- 3 years in supervisory or management role, preferably in a healthcare setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred 5 years of experience in Facilities management
- Certified Hospital Constructor (CHC) Certification
- The American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) Physical Environment worker education
- Education in energy management and sustainability practices
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
- Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) within 2 years of hire date or when eligibility is met for testing
- Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA 2.0) Certified required within 1 year of employment
