The NP/PA utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision-making skills, while working both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. The NP/PA will provide health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, caring for patients ranging in age. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.
Practice Specifics:
Primary responsibilities: Managing minor emergency department patients of all ages in a 40-bed emergency department. Provide medical procedures including wound repair, suturing and splinting. Provide patient education, counseling and referrals as clinically warranted. Practice includes medical evaluation and interpretation of diagnostic tests including laboratory and x-rays. Education or experience in laceration repair, pediatric populations, x-ray interpretation, and splinting is desired.

- Adult and Pediatric Hospitalist supported practice
- Admit to 330-bed St. Mary’s Medical Center, one of America’s Top 100 Hospitals
- The regions only PICU and Level III NICU
- Level 1 Trauma Center
- Emergency Department experience preferred

Home location = Duluth – St. Mary’s Medical Center
Outreach Areas = Virginia Regional Medical Center, Virginia, MN & Essentia Health – Superior Hospital, Superior, WI
Anticipated Schedule:
0.75FTE - 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
EDUCATION:
Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant from an accredited program.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Current licensure as a registered nurse in Minnesota & Wisconsin and current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Minnesota & Wisconsin or current licensure as a Physician Assistant in Minnesota & Wisconsin. Current certification in CPR, ATLS, CALS, ACLS. National certification, in applicable area. Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
