MD/DO- ADDICTION MEDICINE – Part Time
Currently seeking our newest partner to help our team provide Addiction Medicine services to the Duluth community and surrounding areas in a .2 FTE capacity. Embedded in this incredible harbor city is a thriving medical community. In service to Essentia Health’s mission, our team strives to provide the highest quality addiction medicine care in a mix of urban and rural environments.
Essentia Health Addiction Medicine Consult Services
- Bedside consults at St. Mary’s Medical Center and Essentia Health Duluth
- Telehealth inpatient consults throughout the East Market
- All of our providers see patients for evaluations and follow ups related to substance use disorders in the inpatient settings. This can be for evaluation for ongoing management of a substance use disorder, treatment options, initiation management of pharmacotherapies, acute or chronic pain control, perioperative management of medications, questions about substance use disorder management, help/guidance on a safe disposition, and establishing outpatient follow up.

Duluth, MN
- St. Mary’s Medical Center, the region’s tertiary referral center with adult and pediatric subspecialties; 330-bed hospital and Level I Adult and Level II Peds Trauma Center. It is a brand new replacement hospital that has state of the art private rooms.

- Excellent behavioral health resources including psychiatry consult service, social work, case management and drug and alcohol counselors.
Regional sites supported via telehealth
- Aurora, Virginia, Moose Lake, Sandstone, Deer River, and Superior WI
- Supported via telehealth consults in the inpatient and ED settings
- Connection to Essentia's Substance Use Disorder community that has many existing providers and professionals all working towards the same goals.
REQUIREMENTS
- Board certified/board eligible in Addiction Medicine
- Excellent team player – must work well with physicians, APPs, other consultants, patients, and small teams
- Strong commitment to caring for patients both in Duluth and regionally
