Program Manager - Adaptive Recreation

Job Description:

Develops, plans and provides adapted sports and recreation services in assigned area. Programing and leadership of sports and recreationactivities, builds relationships with individuals and organizations in the community to encourage support of programs through gifts and grants.

Education Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support daily operation
  • Administer Sports and Recreation program processes to ensure proper information is shared, registration is accurate and fees are collected on a timely basis
  • Develops marketing materials, catalogs, brochures and program flyers in partnership with marketing and communications
  • Supervise site leads for various programs
  • Assist in evaluating success of events and programs to ensure safety and profitability
  • Ensures programs and events have the necessary support to achieve goals and objectives
  • Actively participate in planning outreach programs with necessary program support including specialized training for volunteers
  • Strategically build community partnerships to gain interest in mission and vision through presentations of program information to community groups
  • Partner with community leaders to build visibility and grow participation in activities and build the donor base
  • Establish partnerships with other departments to ensure consistency and support of mission, vision and objectives
  • Departmental operations
  • Manage performance of staff and site coordinators
  • Provide operational support and feedback to peers
  • Assist with identification of education/training needs of staff and volunteers
  • Orient/oversee orientation of new staff/volunteers
  • Serve as a resource to handle client and staff complaints

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education or related field

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 to 7 years experience in sports and recreation service provision and management of programs and services
  • 3 to 7 years experience working with people with disabilities
  • 0 to 2 years in a lead roll

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists - National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification

  • Driver's license upon hire
