Seeking a Registered Nurse to serve as a Patient Safety Specialist. This is a hybrid position that will work from home and from Essentia. You must reside within driving distance of Essentia Health's facilities in Fargo, North Dakota, Brainerd, Minnesota, or Duluth, Minnesota. This RN works 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. No weekend, holiday, or on-call rotations are required.Education Qualifications:
- BSN or ADN degree from an accredited school or college of nursing.

What You'll Do:
Gathers, analyzes, and evaluates information on a variety of patient, family, and provider clinical care and safety issues, including information contained within policies, procedures, regulatory and legal obligations to conduct a thorough analysis and investigation. Communicates the position of the organization internally and to patients / families. Actively participates in performance improvement teams as assigned. Provides consultative, educational and resource services to the organization. Key responsibilities include:
- Reviews details of risk/patient safety events, grievances, and other feedback events and helps facilitate necessary steps for resolution, education, and/or future process improvements
- Conducts adverse event analysis, investigation, and reporting
- Conducts Workplace Violence Investigations
- Conducts Drug Diversion Audits and Investigations
- Investigates and responds to Attorney General and 3rd Party Payor Insurance Complaints
- Assists with Licensed Provider Board Complaints (MD, PA, NP)
- Assists with Litigation Discovery, Subpoenas, Search Warrants, and Deposition Scheduling
- Other duties as assigned

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
- 3 years Registered Nurse experience preferably in an ambulatory or acute care setting
- Registered Nurse license in the state of employment upon hire.
- High level of interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
- High level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others
- Experience using electronic medical documentation systems or database systems is preferred.
