Job Description:
Assists with the technical and non-technical aspects of cardiac monitoring of patients over age 18 who are on telemetry. Troubleshoots the monitoring equipment, is knowledgeable in all of the functions of monitoring equipment, recognizes heart rhythms, communicates changes in heart rhythms, and prepares the patients for monitoring. St. Mary's Medical Center - Duluth: Provides surveillance, analysis, synthesis and preliminary interpretation of patients’ heart rhythm patterns. Responsibilities also include a working knowledge of various monitoring/testing devices and systems, equipment calibration, identifying and troubleshooting equipment failures, preparing patients/equipment for testing and/or monitoring, assessing for appropriate type of testing/monitoring, providing patient education on procedures, and accurately recording physiological data and preliminary interpretations in multiple reporting systems. Works in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, communicating abnormal or critical physiological responses and activating medical emergencies response plans. Must pass basic heart rhythms test (90% is passing) within 30 days of employment.
Education Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
- Completed course work in a medically related field such as nursing assistant, medical assistant, nursing, EMT, paramedic, respiratory care, or rhythm interpretation.
OR
- Experience in a health-related field.
St. Mary's Medical Center - Duluth:
- Requires a basic knowledge of medical terminology
Required Qualifications:
- Must pass basic heart rhythms test (90% is passing) within 30 days of employment.
