Job Description:
Utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision making skills, works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. Provides health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. They may care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted in age-related category and area of expertise.

PRACTICE SPECIFICS:
The NP/PA utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision-making skills, while working both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. The NP/PA will provide health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, caring for patients ranging in age. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.
Practice Specifics:
Primary responsibilities: Managing minor emergency department patients of all ages in an 8-bed observation unit / 23-bed emergency department. Provide medical procedures including wound repair, suturing, and splinting. Provide patient education, counseling and referrals as clinically warranted. Practice includes medical evaluation and interpretation of diagnostic tests including laboratory and x-rays. Education or experience in laceration repair, pediatric populations, x-ray interpretation, and splinting is desired.
- 8-bed Observation Unit, 23-bed ED; 7-bed Pediatric ED
- Adult and Pediatric Hospitalist supported practice
- Admit to 330-bed St. Mary’s Medical Center, one of America’s Top 100 Hospitals
- The regions only PICU and Level III NICU
- Level 1 Trauma Center
Locations:
Home location = Duluth – St. Mary’s Medical Center
Outreach Areas = Virginia Regional Medical Center, Virginia, MN & Essentia Health – Superior Hospital, Superior, WI
Anticipated Schedule:
11:00 AM – 11:00 PM; Weekdays – six 12-hour shifts every two weeks. Every 3rd weekend
EDUCATION:
Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Current licensure as a registered nurse in Minnesota & Wisconsin Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Minnesota & Wisconsin Current certification in CPR, ATLS, CALS, ACLS. National certification, in applicable area. Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.

The approximate base compensation range is posted, but the actual offer will reflect our total compensation and benefits package. The offer will be determined by a number of factors including the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, FTE, as well as internal equity among our team.
