Job Description:
Utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision making skills, works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. Provides health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. They may care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted in age-related category and area of expertise.

Education Qualifications:

NP:  Master's degree in nursing

PA:  Bachelor’s degree in a health/science-related field


Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Our Wahpeton team is looking for an Advanced Practice Clinician to join the Internal Medicine Department. This patient-centered care team is quality-focused and service-oriented while working in collaboration with one another.  The ideal candidate will be patient-centered, possess exceptional customer service skills, and have a passion for continuous learning and growth.   Current team consists of 4 Internal Medicine and 5 Family Medicine providers, 2-General Surgeons, 1 Chiropractor, and 1-Optometrist in a newly remodeled clinic that also offers an Ambulatory Surgery Center on-site.

  • 1.0 FTE, full-time status (36 patient contact hours; 4 hours professional time per week)
  • Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
  • Care for all adult patients ages 18 and older
  • 12-16 patients per day
  • Established patient base
  • May also provide outreach support at our other senior care communities or satellite clinics.


The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision-making skills, while working both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. The NP/PA will provide health care to individuals, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others. 

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate state (if NP).
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in appropriate state.
  • Current certification in CPR
  • National certification, in applicable area.
  • Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.

$104728 - $125674 / year

The approximate base compensation range is posted, but the actual offer will reflect our total compensation and benefits package. The offer will be determined by a number of factors including the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, FTE, as well as internal equity among our team.
